I am so excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year! I was previously the 3rd Grade teacher at VCA and a long-term substitute in 1st Grade. I have been teaching for over 10 years. I began my career as an Education Assistant and then moved into Substitute Teaching. My first teaching job was with the Boise School District in 1st Grade and then moved to California where I taught in a private school before my children were born. When I went back to teaching, I taught in Oregon for 7 years at a school with the same model as VCA and I loved it! I have my BA in Elementary Education from Northwest Nazarene University. I learned of VCA last year when my family was making the move from Gresham, Oregon to Boise. I had previously been teaching in a school that was the same model as VCA and I was praying that God would lead me to a school that was similar, as I loved the relationships with parents and students that it allowed me to have. I was looking online for jobs and came across a job opening at VCA and I immediately emailed Annie to let her know I was interested. After a phone call with Annie, I knew VCA was where God was leading me and I am so thankful to be back this year!
I grew up in California and attended church from a very young age. I was blessed with parents and grandparents who followed Christ and lived their faith out. This lead me to taking the step to my relationship with God when I was in elementary school. We began attending a small church when I was 5 and this is where I would meet my future husband. God has brought me through so many circumstances over the years and I am always reminded of how dependent on Him I truly am and how much He loves me!
I have been married for 23 years to my amazing husband, Josh. We have 3 kids who keep us busy! Our oldest son, Skyler, is 18 years old and will be a freshman at NNU this fall. Conner is 16 years old and a junior at Mountain View. Chloe is 15 years old and a sophomore at Mountain View. We also have a pretty cute puppy named Addie!
